Mississippi 34 Infantry Companies E, F and I were raised in Marshall County, MS and saw action in Georgia.
BOYD, Edward M., Pvt, at the age of 36, enlisted: 03/10/62 in Mt. Pleasant by James Foot for 3 years. Company E of the 37th Mississippi Infantry Regiment, Benton’s Regiment. (Cold Water Rebels) Designation was changed to the 34th Mississippi Infantry on March 3 1863.
Muster Roll indicate that he was sent to the hospital on 8 November 1862 by the Regimental Surgeon and returned to his unit on 22 April 1863. He was again sent to the hospital on 23 October 1863. Died in Bragg Hospital in Newnan, GA on 27 April 1864. Personal effects at time of death consisted of one jacket, one par of pants, two pair of drawers and one blanket.
